Notes At Press Time... Ed
Jackman of Los Angeles, CA, can be seen on the January 30 airing of
the John Davidson show. On February 8, he and Daniel Rosen will be
juggling on ABC TV's "Kids Are People, Too." Jackman will
present a live performance at noon on January 21 in the Grand Ballroom
on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles.
Albert
Lucas will be juggling in appearances with the Ice Capades show in
Providence, RI, January 13-18; New York City, January 21-February 1;
and Washington, D.C., February 3-15.
The
IJA would like to update its list of prop manufacturers, which is sent
to interested people on request by the secretary/treasurer. To keep
our list up-to-date and help your business to boot, send information
on your offerings and order procedures to Rich Chamberlin, Kenmore,
NY. Deadline is February 15. Also, Newsletter advertising rates are
available from Bill Giduz, Davidson, NC. The
Third Annual Groundhog Day Jugglers Festival sponsored by the Atlanta
Jugglers Association will occur at the Civic Center in that city
February 6-8. A $2 registration fee will permit entry in the Saturday
afternoon competition for trophies, which will be awarded to the
"Most Spectacular," "Most Stupendous," and
"Most Incredible" acts. For
information on lodging or anything else, contact Rodger French or Toni
Shifalo, Decatur, GA. Those planning to attend are urged to
pre-register. The
Wendy's Juggle-a-thon for Cerebral Palsy to take place January 17, 1981,
in Seattle, WA, will include an event which will be recognized by the
Guinness organization.
A
Guinness record for three-object endurance juggling will be set
according to the following criteria: Any objects may be juggled, but
contestants will not be allowed rest breaks. Contestants will be
eliminated as they drop an object.
Record-setting efforts in other categories will be submitted to Guinness as well. Entrants in the 60-minute Juggle-a-thon main event have solicited sponsors to pledge donations to Cerebral Palsy for each minute juggled. Prizes will be awarded to contestants collecting the largest amount of pledges. |
