Philadelphia festival report

by Jackie Erickson & Glenn Ceponis

Jugglers from Atlanta to Bar Harbor and points between converged on the City of Brotherly Love for the second annual Philadelphia Juggler's Club's Juggling and Fun Skills Jubilee in early October. Using the setting of beautiful Fairmount Park's historic Boathouse Row, Sid Ozer and Andy D' Allessandro produced an oldfashioned juggling get-together.

You've heard of burning the candle at both ends? AI Friedman juggled tennis rackets with both ends lit! Rob Peck gave a workshop filled with plain and fancy hat manipulation. Glenn Ceponis carried on a ready exchange with participants in presiding over a three ball workshop. John Foss' one-wheeled circus included high and low unicycling and circus bicycling.

Boy were there door prizes! No kitchen sinks, but lots of props and even a front door were given to lucky ticket-holders!

The weekend's highlight was a marathon public show. Besides cheering many local performers, 200 spectators especially enjoyed Mike Meness' fine three ball routine, the ax-cruciating antics of Bob Nickerson and cigar box work of the Crab Trap Jugglers.
