CHAMPIONSHIPS: The IJA will host Individual Championships, Team Championships and Juniors Championships as stage events. Attempts to break numbers records will be done in the gym at times arranged with the championships director. People contemplating entry in any event should contact Barnes for complete regulations. Registration fees for all events except joggling races must be paid by July 1, or be subject to a late fee. Private rehearsal space will be available at the convention site. All competitors must be IJA members and sign a release to allow their act to be used on the convention video.

 

STAGE INFORMATION: All championships will be held on a fully set stage in the gym. The stage measures 20' x 40' x 6' with Lavalier mike system, full lighting towers, follow spot, full skirts and ball room dance floor. There is no front curtain. The back drop is black velvet, 8-feet tall. Sound wings extend from stage left and right. Competitors will be able to practice on this stage any time. The gym will be closed two hours proceeding competitions to allow for rehearsal. For further information on staging contact Laura Green.

 

PUBLIC SHOW: The public show is "AIRBORNE! Juggling And Other Things That Fly," and will be presented on the main stage in the gym. The show's producers are Susan Kirby and Joe Murray. The show will be translated for the hearing impaired. For further information call Joe and Susan.

 

THE CONVENTION BAND: Traditionally, The Band has played for the Public Show, parades and general mayhem. All musicians who wish to play in this distinguished outfit please call Bruce Plott. No experience is necessary.

 

BENEFIT SHOW: The Benefit Show will be held on the Multi-Purpose stage, and our guests will be hearing impaired. The United Way of Central Maryland is our event sponsor. The participants will be bussed in to watch the juggling, have a workshop, a picnic lunch and a show. There will be translators for this event. To perform, teach or assist in this unusual special event contact Mary Wiser.

 

FAMILY MATINEE: Calling all Clowns! A new show especially for children and families will be presented right after Field Day on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 on the Multi-Purpose Stage. For more information, to perform or to volunteer your services contact Paul Belanger.

 

INT'L STREET FESTIVAL: Harbor Place will be running the International Street Performers Festival throughout the week of the convention. The crowds are enthusiastic and generous! To book a slot send your resume to Mr. John Pezzulla, Special Events Coordinator, Harbor Place and the Gallery. For booking information call John Pezzulla. FIELD DAY: "International Juggling Games" are the featured events of Field Day on Saturday, including five-ball endurance, 3-legged joggling, diabolo tossing, water balloon juggling, unicycle obstacle course and additional silliness. WGRX Classic Rock and Roll will spon­sor the event, with a ribbon cutting by the Orioles Bird and Mayor Kurt Schmoke. Contact Jerry Raitzyk for further information.

 

BALTIMORE THREE BALL OPEN: The Baltimore Juggler's Association is sponsoring a three ball competition, to be held on Field Day. There are three levels; apprentice, journeyman & master. Cash prizes will be awarded. The judging criteria is technical excellence with an emphasis on creativity and innovation of juggling material. We are looking for new moves. You do not have to be a performer or have a routine. For further information contact Jonathan Shull.

 

DAYCARE: The League of Women Jugglers is sponsoring on-site day care in the Athletic Center upstairs from the gym. For further information about the League of Women Jugglers or to volunteer your time please contact Joanne Dintzis.
