+ James Lamkin uses juggling to good advantage in his job as chaplain at Rapides General Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. It became his link to the pediatrics wing at the hospital. "I wanted to learn how to reach children who needed answers about why they got sick," he said. "With such difficult questions, I had to have something to break the barriers down, and juggling does that."

+ Some notes on jugglers with circuses and traveling shows culled from "The Circus Report." Five members of the Bob Lang Family juggled with the Holiday Hippodrome in Rome, N.Y., in April... Ringmaster Bob Welz, Torino and The Pages did juggling acts with Circus Gatti...

Carson and Barnes featured three rings of juggling in Texas this spring with Gerardo Ibarra, Meriam Moreno and the Rosales Family... Chester Cable, the foot juggler, appeared with Farnum Brothers Circus in California... T.J. Howell juggled with a Shrine Circus in Omaha, Neb., and at the Circus World Museum... Carter Brown did hoop juggling with the Great London Circus in California... The Murillo Family and Miss Margo juggled with the Mighty McDaniel Circus... Andy Martello with the Family Showcase Theatre... Constant, a young Dutch juggler, doing billiard balls and cigar boxes in Sweden with Circus Skratt... The Five Roberts were juggling with Al and Joyce Vidbel's Old Tyme Circus in New York in June... Shane Hansen juggled with the International All Star Circus in New York in June... Circus Valentine featured three rings of juggling with Frank Galambos Jr., Janie Loter and Carlos Guiterrez in their Waco, Texas, show... The Osmani Sisters are still juggling with Circus Vargas, and are joined in this year's show by The Carlos, who juggle and spin plates... Juggling with the Culpepper Circus were Mike George, Kent Clausen, Heidi Wendany, and the David Conners Family... Frederic Zipperlin is entertaining with Cirque de Soleil.

+ Learning to juggle was a turning point in Rosalie Stapleton's life. It taught her to let go, and she passes along that lesson to others in a short booklet titled "Juggling, A Game of Life" that she published in 1977. The booklet includes a three ball lesson, and several "Life lessons from earning to juggle." For information on the booklet, write Stapleton at Lucerne Valley, CA.

+  Neither Liisa Tison nor Mark Schiltz were at the IJA convention in Baltimore because they were in California recovering from their honeymoon! Tison, fonner president of the Baltimore Jugglers Association, and Schiltz, a Los Angelesbased comedy juggler, had plenty of help from their juggling friends at their June 10 wedding on Catalina Island. The honeymoon included plenty of juggling, including Schiltz's new trick of juggling at 45 miles per hour while parasailing! The couple is working on a team act for an upcoming tour.

Pat and Lauren Davison most recently parked their bus in Hurricane, W.Va., where they performed a comedy juggling act in a show at Myers Mountaineer Dinner Theatre. The act included balls, clubs, top hats and cigar boxes. One of highlights is Pat's rola bola trick, where he replaces the cylinder with a bowling ball! The Davidsons also perform an eight minute act to music with circuses, fairs and at conventions.

+  The 1988 version of Mime Journalis composed chiefly of photographs of performance artists by Jim Moore of New York. Among the more than 100 individuals and groups pictured are many who include juggling as the focus or a part of their acts, such as Avner the Ecentric, Bob Berky, Francis Brunn, Michael Christensen & Paul Binder, Joey Colon,

Mark Schiltz
