Festivals

 

August 4-9: Quebec, Canada

The Sixth International Unicycle Championship will be August 4-9 at Laval University in Quebec, Canada. 200 twin rooms have been reserved on the convention site for participants for $10 (Canadian) per day per person. Campers (motorized vehicles) are authorized to park on the convention site for $10 (Canadian). Registration for the convention is $20 (Canadian). August 7-9: Rolla, Missouri

The first annual Rollafest & Columbus Day Celebration will be held in this small city located midway between St. Louis and Springfield. The Rolla Jugglers are organizing the event to follow the Montreal lJA festival so that people who went to Montreal can share what they learned with those who couldn't go. Events include a parade through town, public show and competitions. Contact Ed Carstens; Rolla MO.

 

August 15-16: Benton, Pennsylvania

The Wilkes-Barre Jugglers will host a wooded wilderness juggling experience at the Red Rock Jugglefest. It's a camping-only festival at the Red Rock campground in the mountains of northeastem Penn­sylvania. (Located at the intersection of highways 487 and 118, between Wilkes Barre and Williamsport.)

 

Cottages, tents and campers permitted, with discount rates for IJA members. There will be open juggling and games, as well as fishing, swimming and hiking at nearby Rickette's Glen State Park. Aug. 20-24: Banyoles, Spain

The 15th European Juggling Association convention will be in the small Catalunyan town of Banyoles. Plan on camping unless you make prior arrangements for hotels or other lodging through the festival coordinator's office. Contact Sue Hunt; La Costa de Pedrinya; Besalu; Spain.

 

August 22: South Bass Island, Ohio

The fourth annual Club J.J. Island Bash, sponsored by the Jest Jugglers, will be in De Rivera Park in downtown Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island. Festival registration is free, but the ferry to the island from Port Clinton or from Catawba Island is about $7. Plan to come camp for the weekend, or just come for the juggling on Saturday. Sept. 11-13: Catalina Island, California

The Orange Jugglers sponsor the Sixth Annual Catalina Juggler's Jam at Two Harbors on this idyllic island. It's a camping, juggling fun thing. $16 includes camping fees, firewood *anterns and munchies. Tent cabins and a Lodge are also available. The boat to Two Harbors runs out of San Pedro. Sept. 18-20: Charlotte, North Carolina

The Charlotte Jugglers Association sponsors the Fourth Annual Hurricane Hugo Flying Objects Juggling Festival. Games, shows and the Hurricane Challenge are featured events. Contact Martin Beam, Charlotte NC.

 

October 2-4: Lopez Island, Washington

The 1992 Juggle On The Lake will be at the Steckler place adjacent to Hummel Lake (comer of Center Road and Hummel Lake Road. Ride the Lopez Island ferry from the Ana Cortes Ferry Terminal. It features camping, home­made ice cream and a Saturday night salmon bake. Families are invited and there is no registration fee, though donations are accepted. Oct. 9-11: Lodi, California

The Fourth Annual Lodi Juggling Festival will be in Micke Grove Park and Zoo. There will be juggling, street performing, camping, a BBQ dinner and a public show. Contact Andrew Conway; San Francisco CA.

 

Oct. 31-Nov. 1: Bloomington, Indiana

The Haloween Jugglefest will be from 10-10 Saturday and 10-6 on Sunday in the National Guard Armory at 3380 S. Walnut. Huge raffle, "Kombat," unicycles, Halloween party and a prize of free return gas for the car that drives from farthest away. Contact Terry Jones or Lisa Thomas.

 

If you're thinking of having a festival, send information to Juggler's World as far enough ahead of time as possible so that other jugglers can plan their travels.
