Ray Wold, whose unique fire act was profiled in the Winter issue of
the magazine, took time off from appearing at the Reno Hilton to
travel to Rome, Italy, to participate in the Golden Circus Festival
last December. He appeared with acts from around the world, and was
presented with the event's Gold Cup at the end of the month as the top
act among them.

Tina Fraser and Bill SiInpkin, who perform in Richland, Wash., as
"Two of Clubs," won $3,000 for their second place
performance on the TV show, America's Funniest People. Their skill?
They played "She'll Be Coming 'Round The Mountain" on
bicycle pumps! IJA members may be familiar with the act from their
performance of it at Club Renegade at the Los Angeles festival. Fraser
and Simpkin have been performing together for three years, including
several summer fairs in Oregon and Washington. The act includes knife
passing, balls, torches and clubs. Simpkins eats fire and Fraser rides
a giraffe unicycle as well. And, of course, they play their bicycle
pumps. Their repertoire also includes "Happy Birthday" and
'Jingle Bells." |
