         NOTES 
 Laurent
          Perrelet of Versoix,  Switzerland, won top prize, "The
          Golden Elephant," at a European circus newcomer's festival in
          Wiesbaden, Germany, in mid-October. The 13-year-old Laurent has been
          working with the diabolo for four years, and has worked for the Knie
          family for three seasons. He offered his performance in homage to his
          great uncle Felovis, one of the great European jugglers of post-War  
 A caption in the last issue on the page giving the results of joggling races incorrectly identified the winner of the men's mile run. The winner was Mark Kolbus. 
 Gregory
          Popovich left Circus-Circus in Las Vegas
          at the beginning of the year, and begins a ten-month tour with the
          Royal Hanneford Circus on February 4. Popovich will be juggling on his
          ladder, clowning and performing his comedy kitty cat act. His wife,
          Izolda, will perform hula hoops on the mirrored rolling globe.

 Juggling balls were a gift idea listed in this year's Nieman-Marcus Christmas catalog. The exclusive merchandiser offered three, four-paneled, multicolored balls along with an instruction book in a glitzy Nieman-Marcus box for $30. 
 The
          IJA's Los Angeles Teams Champions, Darn, Good &: Funny, has
          another IJA champion as a new member. Cindy Marvell joined
          Paul Phariss and Kevin Holmau in November, and they have been working
          at theatres and festivals near their home base of Tulsa, Okla., since
          that time.  |
