February 1-2 Austin, Texas

The Texas Juggling Society hosts its fourth annual Jugglefest Austin on the campus of the University of Texas. Contact Jim Maxwell; Austin, TX.

 

February 6-9 Auckland, New Zealand

The 1997 Fifth New Zealand Juggling Convention will be at Western Springs College in Auckland. Registration is $55 (NZ) adults and $35 (NZ) juniors. For more information, contact NZJC '97; Kingsland, Auckland, New Zealand.

 

February 7-9 Minneapolis, Minnesota

The University of Minnesota Jugglers present Mondo Jugglefest VIII. Registration is $2, and show tickets are $5 adults; $3.50 children 10 and under. For more information, contact Dave Linton; Minneapolis MN or Erin Kasper or Jon Poppele.

 

February 9.16 The Big Island of Hawaii

The 13th Annual Hawaiian Vaudeville Festival. Cost (includes camping and all festival activities) is $200, and an optional meal plan (7 breakfasts + 7 dinners) is available for an additional $150. March 1-2 Blacksburg, Virginia

The Virginia Technical Jugglers present the sixth annual Leap Day Juggling Convention Saturday 10 - midnight and Sunday noon - 5 in War Memorial Gym on the campus of Virginia Tech. The festival is free, and features games and a public show. Contact Trudi Harrah or Paolo Scardina.

 

March 22-23 Denton & Dallas, Texas

The Tejas Juggling Fest will begin Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Denton Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney St. in Denton, with games at 3 p.m. and a public show at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $2. Sunday's activities will last from 1-5 p.m. at the White Rock Pump House, 2900 White Rock Rd. in Dallas. Admission is free. Contact Rodney Barton; or Logan Daffron.

 

April 4-6 Tallahassee, Florida

Tallahassee Juggling Club 12th annual April Fools Juggling Festival. For more information call Jonathan Lyons or Greg Cohen.

 

April 10-13 Nottingham, England

The Tenth British Juggling Convention will be held in Nottingham. Contact Ian Adcock.

 

April 11-13 Portland, Oregon

The "No Problem, Easy Pickup" IJA affiliate will host its Sixth Annual Portland Juggling Festival. Contact Rhys Thomas; Portland OR.

 

April 11-13 Chapel Hill, North Carolina

The UNC Jugglers will host a juggling festival. Contact Todd Blair; Chapel Hill NC

 

April 18-20, Montreal, Quebec

The fifth annual Montreal Juggling Festival will be at the Centre Immaculee Conception, 4265 Papineau St. Features include a Renegade show entitled "Les Vertigleries" on Friday night sponsored by McAuslan Brewing. The public show is on Saturday evening will be at the Bibleotheque Nationale, Salle St. Sulpice, 1700 St. Denis St. The show will feature many of Montreal's professional jugglers, as well as students from the world renowned Ecole National de Cirque. The theater is large and comfortable, and the National Library is also right in the centre of Montreal's vibrant Latin Quarter. Serge Trempe or Don Lewis.

 

April 23-24 Jerusalem, Israel

"Jugglers Unite!" features two days of workshops, games, show, prizes and other surprises... Many activities in English as well as Hebrew. For information contact: Scott Seltzer; Jerusalem ISRAEL.

 

May 3-4 Jackson, Michigan

The Jugglers of MSU & GLAJA present Cascadia '97 be in the Jackson Crossing Mall (Target wing). Contact: Joannie Wrozek; Napoleon Ml or Dave Brautigam; Jackson Ml.

 

May 8-11 Aalborg, Denmark

The 2nd 12th Nordic Juggling Festival will be in Aalborg. Contact Inger Krusegaard;  Aalborg, Denmark or Jorgen Mortiensen.

 

May 23-25, 1997 Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

The 12th annual Winnipeg Juggling Festival will be held in multiple locations, including R.A. Steen Community Centre and a Saturday night variety show at the Franco Manitoban Cultural Centre. This years theme is "A Celebration of the Arts" (in both official languages). . Contact Ed Vorst; Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

 

June 14 Kutztown, Pennsylvania

The Reading Juggler's Club presents its Sixth Annual June Jugglefest at Kutztown University, rain or shine! Rain or shine, events begin at noon with workshops, open juggling, exhibitors and door prizes. The "Show of Juggling Stars" will be held from 7-9 p.m. Contact Dave Bause; Pottstown PA or Jim Stilianos.

 

June 21 Everywhere

The IJA urges affiliates and clubs to celebrate World Juggling Day with a public event in their areas . Contact affiliates director Deena Frooman;Charleston SC.

 

June 20-22 Zurich, Switzerland

The 11 th Swiss Juggling Festival will be at Kantonsschuler Oerlikon Birchstrasse in Zurich. Two juggling halls will be available, free of charge and open 24 hours a day, and there is a cheap cafeteria. Admission to the Public Show Saturday night will be 10 SF.  Dormitories, available at 10 SF per night, are located close by. If the weather is good, there will be a parade to the marketplace where the games will be held. No contact information provided.

 

August 2-6 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The 50th IJA Annual Golden Anniversary Festival will be on the campus of Robert Morris College near Pittsburgh.  Contact Ginny Rose; Montague MA.

 

September 12-14 Davidson, North Carolina

The Charlotte Jugglers Association will stage its Ninth Annual Hurricane Hugo Flying Objects Juggling Festival on the beautiful campus of Davidson College in conjunction with the College Union. Events include a campuswide Friday night "Lunar Luau" outdoor party, a halftime show for the crowd during Saturday's football game, juggling

October 10-13 Lodi, California

The 1997 Lodi Juggling Festival will again be held at Micke Grove Park and Zoo in Lodi. Camping, public show, barbecue, street performing and a pervasive atmosphere of shared job. Contact Andrew Conway; San Francisco CA.

 

November 7-9 Moline, Illinois & Davenport, Iowa

The Third Second Annual Quad Cities Jugglefest.  For more information call Dusty Galbraith or Bob Graham or Chuck Field.

 

If you're thinking of having a festival, send information to Juggler's World as far enough ahead of time as possible so that other jugglers can plan their travels. Next issue copy deadline is February 15 for festivals after April 1 , 1997.
