* National radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh read a letter on the air in mid- December from comedy juggler Jack Swersie, who vowed to wear one of Limbaugh's neckties while juggling a machete, an onion and a can of Spam on The Nashville Network's Statler Brothers Show the following week. Swersie further vowed that he would M wear a Limbaugh tie in tele vision appearances, or else eat three cans of Spam within five inutes.

* Sean Urban advises aspiring high school politicians that they can stand out from other candidates by juggling in their campaigns. He tells the story of his campaign speech while running for historian of the Student Council Association at Woodbridge Senior High in Woodbridge, Va., last year... "I took out my first club and said, 'This signifies me, Sean. We'll call it S.' I threw the club from hand to hand and everyone was like, 'So what? Who is this guy?' I went on, 'As you can see, one man by himself is not very effective. What I need is you, my class.' I took out the second club. 'We'll call this club C, for class.' I juggled the two clubs and it got a few laughs. Then I took out the third club and said, 'This is the A club. It stands for action. Put the 3 together: Sean, class, and action, and you have a very good SCA!" The audience was in an uproar! I did some under the leg maneuvers just to keep them begging for more and then took my seat. Needless to say, I won the election!"

* Ten-year-old Guy Lewis of the L.A. Valley College juggling group filmed an Oscar Meyer commercial that was shown during the Superbowl. In addition to juggling hot dogs and condiments, he tap danced and sang the Oscar Meyer song. Guy has been juggling for only a few months.

* Those interested in presenting school shows might consider the new book, "Make Money Performing in Schools" by David Heflick (ISBN 0-9638705-8-0). This 190 page manual provides information on developing and presenting programs for school assembly performances. It includes interviews with school principals and arts- in-education experts about what makes school shows successful, and instructions on developing and marketing a show, presentation techniques, descriptions of successful programs and ideas for program themes. * A long article about Lotte Brunn which was written by Cindy Marvell appeared in the February 9 edition of the New Jersey section of the New York Times. It recalled the highlights of her 45-year career and told how she ended up settling in Moonachie, N.J.

* Speaking of New York, the Carmine Street Irregulars juggling club appeared live on the broadcast of WABC and Good Morning America on February 5.

* Former IJA President Ron Graham has been featured in two prestigious scientific publications lately.11e juggled three rings on the cover of the November 1996 edition of Math Horizons magazine - and showered 12 balls in a photo accompanying the six-page article inside! The photo, taken and digitally manipulated by his daughter, Che', was not noted in the article as an exaggeration of the truth, but Graham fessed up later to not being able to do more than six in the real world. He was also featured in a two-page profile in the March 1997 edition of Scientific American magazine. Graham, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, is regarded as one of the top mathematicians in the world and was recently named Chief Scientist of AT&T Laboratories. The articles describe both Graham's extensive work in mathematics and his longtime involvement with juggling, trampolining and other circus arts. Graham frequently gives talks on math and juggling, including a recent talk to professionals at the Disney Institute in Orlando recently.
