'97 Board of Director Nominees

Tom Bennett

The IJA is no longer the sole forum for information about, and the advancement of jugglers and juggling. In recent years, other societies dedicated to juggling have appeared. I propose to keep the IJA at the forefront of these groups, setting a high standard for both hobby and professional jugglers.

I hope to see "Jugglers' World" magazine, being the only link which connects ALL IJA members, attain the editorial level of "Time" or "Life" magazines, and not sink to "National Enquirer" depths such as often practiced by computer devotees on "wreck.juggling".

I would like to help the IJA continue the positive directions it has taken, eliminate the negative aspects that have come along and generally improve itself and the image of the organization.

The IJA was founded to be a friendly, helpful organization; members still pledge "to render assistance to fellow jugglers". I wish to continue that tradition, keeping the IJA a source of encouragement and positive feedback.

I have previously served for several years as the secretary of the IJA and beyond that have donated many hours to helping run the annual festivals. I would appreciate your vote.

Braidy Brown

Remember me? I'm that Auction guy you elected to the Board of Directors in 1995. Well, I'm back asking for your support for a second term.

I've had a great time these last two years as a Board Member working for the IJA. My most noticeable accomplishment has been collecting and selling at Auction in excess of $10,000 worth of merchandise while raising money to support our IJA Archive Fund. As a board member I have participated in all board meetings, suggesting and supporting important discussions and actions, always in the best interests of the IJA, its members present and past and, for jugglers everywhere.

A lot has been accomplished these past two years, however a lot more work still needs to be done. I have the desire, love and interest in juggling and the 1JA, to put forth the time and effort to effect the change we need to ready the IJA to enter its 51st year as an organization and the twenty-first century.

I want to Thank You for your vote, confidence and support. And I again would ask that you support this years Auction by making a donation of at least one Juggling related item. No matter how large or small, many items or just one, all will be sold and appreciated, with the proceeds going to the IJA Archive Fund.

Andrew Conway

I believe that the IJA has lost its sense of direction. We need to focus on the IJA's original mission of education and assistance to all our fellow jugglers, not just on making money from increasingly expensive festivals. Please vote for me.

Bill Giduz

Giving up my IJA paycheck and title won't be easy, but it's the right thing to do. I can't in good conscience continue editing the magazine because the issues the organization faces are far larger than that. The board of directors need: take new initiatives on many fronts, and I have energy and enthusiasm for those endeavors.

I have plans to help the organization reactivate the Life Member program, make or archives accessible, involve more members in our governance, establish a members referral agency, increase membership, raise funds, initiate a festival mentoring program and expand our competitions.

The needs are obvious, and it's obvious to me that they require far more membership involvement than we now have. I can articulate our needs, and am confident that members like you are willing to help us meet them. There's a job for everyone in the IJA, and I'd like to help you find yours! You can follow my campaign and see my specific ideas at (my website) or contact me otherwise for a copy. If you want to get involved in getting the IJA moving again, start by giving me your vote!

Tripp Holmgrain

I've been an IJA member for 13 years. I've heard a lot of talk, but haven't seen any real change. I'd like to change that. Would you like to see the Life Member program reinstated? More issues of Juggler's World? Reduced convention fees? Membership benefits like performers insurance, hotel/rental car and group long distance discounts? A growing membership? Sold-out public shows? More juggling information on the internet? A board that does more for and listens to its members?

With my prior IJA Board experience ( in 1988-1989 I started the IJA auction and obtained $25,000 in corporate sponsorships for the IJA), 10 IJA conventions and 15 years in marketing and business management, I think I can make a difference. Vote for change--Vote for Trip Holmgrain. I would be thrilled with your support.

Art Jennings

As a founding father, the International Jugglers Association is very dear to me. I'd like to be able to serve it as long as the membership will have me.

Renegade Tom

The Renegades have never been members of the IJA for the last 15 festivals we have attended, because of political reasons. We are opposed to the IJA's Bored of Directions and it's continued adherence to the late 1970's and early 1980"s administrations failed and flawed principles and policies, from the Beggers Banquet to Club Renegade. We have battled this lingering conservative element with action rather than words.

However, times have changed and now Renegade Tom, is willing to take the plunge and butt heads with the old guard. Let the pontification begin.

Out with the old and in with the new. Ask not what Renegade can do for you, but what you can do for Renegade. Good luck to all who oppose us, Renegades Rule, bla,bla,bla,bla,.....
