COSTS: The price of the full convention for five days and nights, including space in a double room, 13 meals, admission to all activities, and a convention T- shirt, button and program is $200. Registration and payment in full by June 15 will reduce this to $190. See the registration form for other options. We have done everything possible to minimize convention costs for our members.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES: Please register early. Registrations should be received by June 15, 1986, to guarantee the availability of your dorms, meal plans and admission to activities. There is a minimum $50 deposit, but you may deduct a 5-percent discount if you pay in full by June 15. Pre-registration forms and deposits will be accepted by mail if received by July 15. There will be a $5 late fee added to all adult package plans not received by July 15.

PRE-CONVENTION WORKSHOP: Allan Jacobs will lead a three-day pre-convention workshop on club swinging. The workshop will begin Saturday morning and include six hours of instruction on Saturday and on Sunday, as well as a wrap-up session on Monday. To register for the workshop, send $75 ($60 for those under age 15) to "Club Swinging Workshop," W. Newton, MA. For more information, call Holly Greeley after working hours.

The workshop fee does not include room, board or activities fee for Friday to Monday. To arrange for those, include them on your convention registration form.

MEALS: All meals, including the banquet, will be at the Dining Commons located in the residence hall complex. There will be breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekdays, and brunch and dinner on weekends. These plans include dinner on the evening of arrival, and lunch or brunch on the day of departure. A vegetarian option is available at all meals and the banquet if registration is received by June 15. There are also many restaurants in the area.

DORMS: Dormitories are a short walk across the street from the gym. The dorms are clean and modern, with lounges on each floor. Linens are provided and may be exchanged as often as desired. Laundry facilities are available, and you will have access to various campus recreational facilities. A pool near the gym will be available for our use. Everyone staying in the dorms must take a meal plan.

HOTELS: Several hotels are available in the area. The Holiday Inn Park Center is the most convenient and economical. It is about six blocks from the gym and most other convention activities, and across the street from the site of the public show. They have also given special convention rates. See the ad in Juggler's World.

TRANSPORTATION: San Jose State is a very short drive from San Jose International Airport. The Amtrak and Greyhound stations are also nearby. You might also consider flights into the San Francisco or Oakland airports, but they are each about 35 miles away. The IJA is being given special rates by Eastern Air Lines and Alamo Car Rentals. See their ads in Juggler's World.

CHILDREN: An IJA convention can be a very exciting and rewarding experience for children. We have made special reduced rates for children aged 10 and under. There are no special children's rates for rooms, but children may stay in dorms (or at the Holiday Inn Park Center) in their parents' room for free. The dorm rooms are not large, but sleeping bags could be placed on the floor. A 10- year-old can get a full meal plan and activity package for the whole convention for $82. Children five and under may eat free off of their parents' plates at all meals including the banquet. If they are IJA family members they may also attend all events free.

SHOWS: There will be two great shows at the convention this year. The "Sensations of 1986" show on Thursday at Morris Dailey Auditorium is being planned as a new show specifically for an IJA audience, and promises to be very fun and exciting. The "Juggling, and Other Delights" show on Saturday at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts will be our show for the public as well as ourselves. Robert Nelson, the Butterfly May, will be MC, and some outstanding acts already confirmed include Air Jazz, Anthony Gatto and Albert Lucas. Both shows are being directed by Craig Barnes and Soozee Shireman. Please contact them if you would like to be involved.

WORKSHOPS: Alexis Lee is busily working on a full schedule of workshops. If you would like to lead a workshop or have ideas for them, please let her know soon. Contact her at Atlanta, GA.

PARADE AND STREET COMPETITION: We are bringing the traditional IJA parade back, and following it with a new Street Performers Competition. If you are interested in competing in this, please contact Sue and Barry Bakalor for more details.

COSTUMED BALL: Following the "Sensations" show Thursday evening will be another innovation, the Costumed Ball. Dancing, refreshments, fun, and friends will be abundant. Bring something creative to wear, or just come square, but be there!

BANQUET: A sumptuous banquet and awards ceremony will help climax the convention Saturday evening beginning at 4 p.m.   It will be followed by the "Juggling, and Other Delights" show.

VENDORS: We expect many vendors of all types this year. Anyone interested in renting vendor space should contact Barry and Sue Bakalor for rates.

CLIMATE: San Jose enjoys the best of northern California's ideal summer climate. Expect highs about 81, lows of about 55, sunny days, no rain and low humidity.

TOURISM: Located at the southern end of San Francisco Bay, San Jose is ideally located for side trips to San Francisco, redwood forests and Pacific beaches.

CONVENTION HEADQUARTERS: The convention headquarters will be at the San Jose State Womens Gym, about one block from the dorms and dining commons. The headquarters will be the site for convention registration and information.
