| UK | The Lake District | Hawkshead | What started 6 years ago as a one day event has now expanded to a full weekend, with many people arriving on the Friday evening to make the most of it! It's the perfect excuse to catch up with old friends, make new ones and sink a sociable amount of fine ale in some of the UK's most beautiful countryside. There is juggling to be done, mountains to unicycle up and down and food to be eaten! So bring some beer, some balls, a BBQ and join the fun! | The event itself is free, but there is a small charge payable to the campsite to cover the camping, currently this is approximately £2 per car, £1.50 per person, per tent, per night... an absolute bargain if you ask us! The campsite is very basic. There are toilets and water available on site, but no showers or running hot water. There's no site shop, but the milkman does call daily to deliver essentials. It's a lovely site, with some fantastic views, and it's only a couple of minutes walk from picturesque Hawkshead, a village famous as the home of both Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth (and there's a couple of rather nice pubs to boot!) Oh, and the only mobile phone network that has decent coverage on the site is Vodafone, which should mean it's nice and quiet! | |
