WALLY STRATON WRITES (2/24/71)

On March 17, 1971 I will complete my tour of school assembly programs for the University of North Dakota. I will have performed a total of 251 programs in North and South Dakota, Montana and Nebraska . I worked from Sept. to Nov. 1970 and Jan to March 1971 and traveled approximately 20,000 miles by car, not counting my trips from California to the Dakotas.

I am happy to report that my juggling, which I use in my school programs gets a marvelous reaction from the audiences.  I perform mostly comedy juggling for my cigar box routine and ball juggling. I really get a lot of laughs, Roger.

For the three cigar box routine, I get all kinds of laughs getting the boxes caught in funny positions. Then I use four boxes and play it straight.

I use color changing rings (four) and am still using 3 Indian clubs as you can't practice four clubs in a motel room!  In fact, there's not much room for practicing 3 clubs in a motel room!  I've ordered some Jerry Greenberg clubs, and I think I can get some added comedy out of them due to their being made out of a plastic kind of material.

April 12, 1971 I go on a USO overseas tour to Japan, Taiwan , Okinawa, etc.

Roger, I really want to thank you for all the help you've given me in learning juggling in California. It's really paid off in my shows. The audiences have really dug it.

So long for now, Wal.

TONY BUECHNER WRITES ( 4/6/71)

You might like to know that we had a great clown convention here in Baltimore last month. Among some truly fine clown skits and magic acts, we got to see two great juggling acts performed by Lou Meyer and Ed Sparrow. Ed also does a lot of fire tricks that were quite spectacular.

KEN SHERBURNE WRITES (3/22/71)

I was in Florida in Feb. and visited with my good friend Gil Dova and caught his fine act again at the Americana. I was on one nighters with George Jessel and only had time to visit for the one evening, but it was good to see him again.  I also met, for the first time, Billy Tirko when I was in Allentown last Oct. We also had a nice visit but again I was rushed for time and had to leave after my show. I keep in touch with my pal, Bobby May, and I hope to see him in May on my way to Toledo. .                                          .

I need some Bobby May Junior model Lind clubs. If you hear of anyone with same, I would appreciate them getting in touch with me.  Sincerely, Ken
