Jimmy Robertson and Todd Blair, formerly of Flight Patterns, are performing together this summer at King's Dominion Park in Virginia.

 

Bruce Sarafian of Kissimmee, Fla., will be recognized in the next Guinness Book of World Records for an 11 bean bag flash, according to Gene Jones, Guinness world judge for juggling. Sarafian, a part­time juggler employed as a computer operator at the county courthouse, said his first successful attempt came last December, and he recorded several on videotape later that were accepted by Guinness. He practices three hours a day, and works on the weekends doing comedy street shows at Old Town Mall with partner Todd Kay.

 

A Guinness three-ball non-stop world record attempt ended in a flash on April 12 when one of Brian Veth's friends took a flash picture of him at the 5 hour 58 minute mark. The flash startled the 17­year-old Chelmsford, Mass., high school athletic star and he dropped a ball, abruptly ending his attempt to beat Jas Angelo's 8 hour 57 minute record. Veth, who performs magic and juggling in public and kicks long field goals on the gridiron, forgave his friend and was stoic about the failed attempt. Though the logistics of his official attempt were daunting, including reservation of a racket­ball court, arranging for two official full-time monitors and procuring pre­attempt publicity, Veth says he'll make another attempt at it... later. "I'm sure I could do it, but it took me seven months to get ready this time," he explained. Veth used his attempt to raise money for his high school activities and athletics committee, and for a Town of Chelmsford Scholarship Fund.

 

John Nations and Jeff Mason were working at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom this spring. Reid "Tommy Loon" Belstock is at Disney Village Resort through August 15. Chrissie Scoville,  Reid Belstock and Brian Erie are seen as roving jugglers in Las Vegas's Excalibur Hotel, appearing as "Stench &: His Wench."

 

John Thomas is doing about 100 shows a year throughout the Southeast with a gospel ministry approach. The Alabama juggler has been at it 23 years, but it took him a long time to ever meet anyone else he could learn from. Thomas said he was trying five clubs before he ever saw anyone else do it, but then walked into his first IJA festival and immediately saw someone practicing five club back crosses. He knew then that any­thing was possible!

 

England's Ra-Ra-Zoo is touring a new show called "The Gravity Swing" through the homeland with quick sojourns to Italy and Sweden. The troupers include Sean Gandini (who juggles nine rings), Kati Yla­Hokkala, Sue Broadway, Merlin Shepherd and Jackie Sysum. The first of three juggling sequences in the new show is a routine with custom-built clubs based on geometric objects which builds up to a five person double feed with a walk through. The second is a duet with Gandini and Yla-Hokkala which combines modern dance with five, four and three ball juggling. The finale includes juggling in black-light.
