CAO's Report

by Norman Schneiderman Chief Administrative Officer

First, let me apologize for an error in the financial statement in the last issue. Due to a computer error (and we all know where they come from!) the expenses were printed as $340,273. They should be $340,611, and the net profit is $23,523, not the $23,861 reported.

I have corrected the error in the spreadsheet, which I built to summarize the six-page financial statements for the year end (which did not include the above error). Secondly, the number of members was also incorrect due to a software glitch in the membership program. The membership for 1992 was 2,900. The software glitch is also corrected.

The following will help clear up confusion regarding the Las Vegas Mini Festival income. (See "The Curmudgeon Speaks" in the letters section.) The $2,425 fees collected for the festival represent preregistration in 1992. The balance of fees, which were collected at the festival in January 1993, was $2,580. Hence, the total festival income was $5,005. Total expense for the mini festival was $1,540.46, leaving a net profit of $3,464.54. This amount was paid in April to the Life Member Fund to help retire our debt to it.

Regarding the financial management of the IJA, I believe that the current administration has not only uncovered the true state of affairs of the association and reported it to the membership, but is taking positive steps to correct management and protect the members.

All accounting and administrative work is current and running smoothly, due to the diligent efforts of Richard Dingman. The Fargo Festival is quickly drawing near and we are expecting a great success, due to the efforts of Ginny Rose, festival coordinator, and the many volunteers helping her. And, of course, Juggler's World is here thanks to the untiring efforts of Bill Giduz.

In my position as Chief Administrative Officer I am aware of, and have access to, all the business practices of the association, and I am willing and eager to hear from members and answer any questions you may have. Please contact me at Halifax NS; Canada.
