Auction organizer and IJA director Braidy Brown said plans are being made for two fantastic auctions at the IJA festival in Pittsburgh with the proceeds going to support our IJA Archive Fund. Also this year, plans have been made so that members who can't make it to Pittsburgh or to the auction itself ' for that matter, can still bid for items at auction.

Back for the second straight year will be the Collectibles Auction, featuring celebrity memorabilia, old props, costumes, pictures, posters, etc. Special among the collectibles to date are masterpieces of art by The Great Ballini and Art Jennings, who are each generously donating the fruits of their considerable painting talent for this worthy cause.

Our 4th First Annual IJA Auction will feature outstanding equipment and products donated by members of our juggling community and equipment manufacturers and suppliers from around the world.

To participate in the Auction FUN, the first step is for you to identify items you want to donate, and send them to auction organizer Braidy Brown or send him a note describing the items you'll make available to the auction in Pittsburgh. Then plan to personally attend the auction and be part of the BIDDING FRENZY!!!

To make sure everybody can get a chance to bid on items, Braidy is preparing a listing of all items committed or donated by mid-July, and will send the listing to all who have requested by regular or e-mail. Absentee bidders can then follow the process described along with the list to make their bids. However, absentee bidders only get one shot so bid high, bid the top amount you are willing to pay for an item.

To bid on an item: 1) You must include your name, address, and phone number, the number and description of the item on which you're bidding and the dollar amount you want to bid. 2) All bids must be in writing. No phone bids will be accepted. Only those bids received prior to the published starting time of the auction will be considered. We are not responsible for bids we do not receive. 3) All items will be sold in their "as is" condition at the time of sale. 4) If you are the high bidder and not at Pittsburgh, you will be notified of your purchase, payment, shipping instructions by mail/e-mail.

In conclusion, Braidy said, "LET THE FUN BEGIN!" Send your donations, donation * commitments, requests for the auction itern listing - TODAY!! Braidy Brown; Binghamton NY.

Editor's Note

It has come to the editor's attention that critical comments regarding the Japanese Top Masters appearing in an article, under the byline "Thomas L.," in the Fall 1996 issue of Jugglers World reviewing the 1996 festival in Rapid City have been considerably upsetting to the performers, particularly because of their misapprehension that the piece reflected the opinion of Juggler's World magazine and/or the IJA.

First of all, we want to say to our Japanese friends, and all others, that we apologize for any such misapprehension caused by the inclusion of this piece in the magazine, and that it does not reflect the opinion of either Juggler's World or the IJA, but only that of the writer.

Indeed, the opinion of the editor is represented by the article entitled "Don't Even Try to Top Koma Zuru," which reflects the distinguished background and true artistry of this master performer of a unique art in the world of object manipulation. The tremendous applause given by the audience of jugglers at the Rapid City festival Public Show speaks for their opinion of the master artistry of the Japanese performers.

This provides a convenient opportunity to state clearly that the policy of Juggler's World magazine is to further the art of juggling by providing a forum for the discussion and debate of issues relevant to jugglers, consistent with the mission of the IJA: "to educate and render assistance to fellow jugglers, to provide an accessible source of juggling information to jugglers and the public, and to record and maintain the history of juggling."

The articles published do not necessarily represent the opinion of either Juggler's World or its editors, or the IJA, but are the opinions of the authors in each case. Furthermore, the IJA, acting through Juggler's World magazine, reserves the editorial right to determine in its sole discretion whether to publish or not to publish, in whole or in part, any materials offered for publication in the magazine, whether in the form of written submissions, paid advertising or otherwise.
