EDITOR'S NOTEBOOK

IJAer Ken Sherburne came to Hartford October 12th with a great variety show headlined by Tiny Tim and George Jessel.

It was an exciting evening for us to meet Ken and the rest of the cast of the show. We were the guests of Ken and his pretty girl friend Nancy at the cast party after the show. Ken introduced us to Tiny Tim, who had put on a great show and was a tremendous success.

Ken went over very well himself. His act is approximately as follows: 3 clubs; jump up onto a clear plastic (see thru) rolling globe while juggling 3 clubs; single back tosses on globe; set out 4 clubs in row on floor and rode through them rapidly on unicycle; 3 club routine on Uni; brief juggle of 4 clubs on uni; routine with 3 battle axes; routine with 4 rings; brief juggle of 5 rings; 4 rings on 5 ft. unicycle; turning sharp corners in comic fashion uni; 3 axes on 10 ft. unicycle; finish with 3 torches on rolling globe in the dark.

New member Al Forbes of New Zealand has for sale a mimeographed booklet describing in great detail how to juggle balls in the basic patterns. With it comes a printed sheet with about a dozen or more photographs of Al and his wife juggling balls. Al juggles 3,4,5,6,7,8 balls in the photos. Write to Al for details.

I sold the IJA's addressograph machine. I had put notices in the Newsletter several times in the last couple years offering it to the members, but I received no replies. I have never used it for addressing the Newsletter as it only costs a couple dollars a month to let the printers address and mail out the Newsletters. Winfield Buzby used the machine when he was Secretary-Treasurer a couple years ago. I had him send it to me in St. Louis (at a cost of over $6 - it weighs 35 lbs) and the printer there did use it for a while but it is quite slow and laborious - in my opinion - to operate. Buzz said he thought it was worth $15 maybe. I advertised it on the bulletin board at work for "$25 or make offer" and was offered $15.00, which I took. I have Bent the check for the entire amount of $15.00 to Treasurer Bob Geer.

Plate spinner Eric Brenn appeared on TV on the Timex All Star Circus - the Circus Bennewise in Copenhagen, and on an Ed Sullivan Show which had clips of acts that have appeared on his show in the past 21 years of the shows' history.

I have run out of space for new members and address changes.

Will put them in November's issue. So much for now-RVD.
