U.S. Nationals Championships Stage
Area: 40 feet wide by 25 feet deep with 30 foot high ceiling. Full
theatrical lighting. Prizes:
Trophy to first place finisher in U.S. Nationals. Walnut plaques to
first three places in each event. Certificates to first five places. Rules
and Regulations: All competitors must be IJA members. $3 entry fee
for all events but U.S. Nationals, which is $5.
Only
registrations postmarked between May 1 and June 15 will be accepted.
Each event will be limited to 20 competitors. (Exceptions will be made
for IJA members who have placed first, second or third in U.S. Nationals
Championships or first in Junior Championships.) These people may enter
any event until Wednesday. July 20 at 2 p.m. To enter. please use the
registration form on this page.
If
an event has not reached its maximum registration by June 15. members
may sign up for the event until 2 p.m. July 20. The late registration
fee will be $5.
Competitors
should check with the Championships Director upon arriving at the
convention. An information desk will be set up to answer questions.
Five
club competitors must qualify with the Championships Director by
Wednesday, July 20 at 2 p.m. No fire juggling will be allowed
There
will be a meeting for all competitors 45 minutes before each event. At
this time. the order of appearance will be posted and questions
answered. Entrants must compete at their appointed times and stay within
time limits. No time calls will be made during competitions.
Two
minutes will be allowed between contestants for setting up, and stage
help is the responsibility of each entrant. The failure to be prepared
may result in disqualification. If IJA officers can be of help, please
contact them ahead of competition time. Events: NUMBER

Numbers
Juggling: Objects must do a continuous cascade or shower pattern in
the air. No multiplex. no floor work. Time will stop when one object
hits the ground. Three trials for longest time, to be taken all at once
or in sequence with other competitors at each individual's request.
Competitors may pass a turn only once, and only following the initial
trial.
Five
club competitors must qualify with a time of 15 seconds. Shortest
qualifying times will compete first. A hat draw will determine the
running order of seven object competitors.
U.S.
Nationals, Juniors and Teams: A
hat draw will determine appearance order. Props for these events are
limitless, but the focus of the act must be juggling. Use any type of
juggling or manipulation and any type of auxiliary equipment. Use
music; live or taped. A cassette system will be available for use, but
each individual must supply an operator for his or her performance. Prop
assistants may only serve in that capacity. Joggling
and Unicycle Races: Competitors must use at least three bean bags or
clubs. No bouncing balls allowed. You must cascade the entire distance.
If you drop, you may pick up the drop and continue. The 53 entry fee
covers all events in each category. Judging
and Scoring: The competitions will be judged by seven people. Each
event will have a maximum of 100 points. Two scores will be given. The
first for technique, juggling ability and difficulty of tricks and the
second for showmanship and presentation of juggling skills.
All
judges will flash a score between one and ten points in each category.
The highest and lowest will be discarded and the rest totaled. Both
presentation and technique scores will be added to compute the final
score.
In
case of a tie, there will be a three minute tie breaker for which new
scores will be awarded. The competitor who receives the most points
wins.
Joggling
and unicycle juggling races will be judged on order of finish only.
Numbers contests will be judged on maximum time only. |
