37th
Convention takes IJA to Vegas
Final
details of the IJA's 37th Annual Convention are now being worked out,
and the Showboat Hotel in Las Vegas is getting ready for a throng of
jugglers July 17-22. We
have blocked out 300 rooms for IJA use. More will be made
available
if needed. However, as of June 12, all rooms not covered by a
registration deposit will be opened to the public. So, please don't
depend on just showing up at the convention without a registration and
assuming there will be rooms available, because there may well not be!
The
convention price is again very reasonable, with your total expenses at
less than $200. We also have instituted, a family plan for
registration to help save a little money for families with three or
more members. Ask about it when you
register.
Since
we are dealing with a hotel, registration procedures at the convention
will differ from the past few conventions. First, you will register
with the hotel upon your arrival, and pay the balance of your room
bill at the desk. (If you'd like to arrive before or stay after the
convention, call the hotel directly about those nights and you should
receive the convention room rate.) Next, you'll register with the IJA
to pay the balance of your fees and obtain your tickets to events.
We'll also hand out meal books for those who choose the $65, five-day
plan.
The
tentative convention schedule is to hold the Welcome Party on Tuesday,
Joggling, Juniors, and Team Championships on Wednesday, U.S. Nationals
Championships on Thursday, Movie Night and Convention Party on Friday,
and Public Show on Saturday. Of course, workshops will be held daily.
I
hope you are planning to take advantage of this exciting and
economical opportunity by planning your family vacation around the IJA
convention. If you have any questions or need further information,
please contact me. Otherwise, mail in your pre-registration form now
and I'll see you there!
