STAGE
COMPETITIONS GENERAL RULES AND
SCORING: For
the U.S. Nationals, Team, and Juniors championships, props and style
of manipulation are unlimited, but the focus of the act must be
juggling.
Use
live or taped music. A cassette system will be available, but each
competitor must supply an operator. Prop assistants are permitted, but
may only serve in that capacity.
No
fire juggling will be allowed, and all competitors will be taped by
the IJA.
There
will be a meeting of all competitors 45 minutes prior to each event.
At this time, the order of appearance will be posted (determined by
hat draw) and questions answered. Entrants must compete at appointed
times and stay within time limits. No time calls will be made during
competitions. Two minutes will be allowed for set-up between
contestants, and stage help is the responsibility of each entrant.
Failure to be prepared may result in disqualification.
100
maximum points for competitors.
At
the conclusion of each act, the seven judges will publicly post two
scores between 1 and 10; one for technique and one for showmanship.
High and low scores will be thrown out and the rest totaled. Technique
scores will count as 60 percent of the total, and presentation will
count 40 percent.
In
case of a tie, there will be a three minute tie breaker for which new
scores will be awarded. The competitor receiving the most points wins.
