Soviet
Club Passers Star In
The
Moscow Circus U.K. Tour 1988 started with rave review in the media
and had sell-out shows everywhere it went. The press highlighted
Valerya Galenya, the snake woman/contortionist, but it was the
jugglers I particularly went to see.
Anatoly
Myaskostupov and Viktor Pilipovich opened the second half of the
show, each coming out juggling six clubs. Then with five each they
did continuous back crosses, then single spin five club cascades.
With five between the two of them, they did tricks such as stealing,
passing them over their heads to one another, and using one hand
each.
Laying five clubs in a line across the ring, one of them ran across the ring and kicked each club to the other, who caught it in the pattern. They did some continuous between the legs work with three clubs each, then got ready for the grand finale.
The
finale was passing ten clubs, beginning by juggling five each facing
each other across the full width of the ring. After about 30 passes
one of them attempted to collect all ten clubs. They got it on the
third try, but it was their only drop of the night.
They
then received the applause they richly deserved, and seemed to take
genuine enthusiasm and pleasure at the ovation. |
