Frank Olivier is trying to arrange a community center for jugglers that would be open 24 hours a day. The plan is tentative, but if it becomes a reality jugglers would pay a $45 initiation fee and $25 a month for access to the 3,000 square-foot building at the corner of 8th and Dwight Streets in Berkeley, California. When he isn't working on the community center idea, Olivier is perfecting his one-man show. One of his latest additions to the show is a routine where he juggles upside down while leaning on someone in the audience. "I'm also still trying to believe that I did eight balls at the convention," he says.

Klutz Enterprises will be coming out with some new products this spring, including a "Kid's Gardening" book, the "World's Tackiest Calendar" and "Revenge of the Son of the World's Tackiest Postcards. " The winter catalog, which came out recently, includes' 'The Official Koosh Book. " They have received more advance orders for the "Koosh Book" than for any book in their history.

Mary Wilkins found a juggling reference in the new book, " The Ragman's Son," an autobiography of Kirk Douglas. Read from page 204...

"I had prepared myself months in advance, as I always did before a movie, this time to play the part of a juggler. I would stand in my bedroom in Beverly Hills, with three oranges over a bed, and keep trying to juggle them over and over again. It was hard. I didn't think I'd ever get to feel comfortable with it. Finally, the rhythm of juggling came to me. I even had a talent for it and was able to convincingly portray a professional juggler. "

The movie, "The Juggler" was produced in 1953 with Kirk Douglas playing the part of Hans Muller on location in Israel.

They tried, but they couldn't do it! Juglers at the Michigan Renaissance Festival tried to break the Guinness record for the most jugglers at one place. A total of 247 people did 1,093 objects. That wasn't quite enough to surpass the record set at the IJA's Purchase convention of 476 and 1,867.

Myron Wilcox of Porterville, Calif., reminds us of the IJA boosterism for blood donation. "We can give of ourselves beyond our love and talent, " Wilcox said. The IJA urges all its members to give blood and tell'em a juggler sent you!

Nino Frediani has opened with his family a restaurant just minutes from the center of London. Mark Nizer and his wife, Wendy, had dinner with Nino and his wife, Wendy, who is chef at Zizine's. The establishment is named after Nino Frediani's father, Augusto. The Frediani family joined the circus in the 18th century. Zizine Frediani was an acrobat both on the mat and horseback. It soon made him a star attraction. He performed a feat that has yet to be equaled - standing as high man in a three-man column on horseback without safety or harness. Like the Evil Knievel of his day, he leapt and somersaulted over horses and carriages. His tour of the ring performing 58 "arabes" like a spinning Catherine Wheel was breathtaking.

Nizer reported Nino Frediani had returned to London from Monte Carlo, where he was a featured performer. Nizer has been performing for colleges, and has recently opened for Bob Newhart and Bob Hope.
