The current edition of the Clyde Beatty Cole Brothers Circus includes three rings of juggling right after intermission. The Dionne Family passes rings, and Michelle Dionne does six rings solo. David Gaona, one of the Flying Gaonas, juggles clubs and catches balls in a billiard pocket belt. He can perform up to seven balls and nine rings. In the center ring, iron jaw Ron Gill clamps down on a mouthpiece with his teeth and swings back and forth while juggling three clubs and spinning a hoop on each foot. His wife, Mitzi, then takes a turn while spinning rings on her arms and feet, also suspended by her teeth. All three groups finish with torch juggling, and all do other spots in the show. At least two of the circuses clowns juggle -- Mike Rosman and Robert Templeton.

 

The Rubber City Jugglers of Akron, Ohio, entertained baseball fans for the second year in a row during the home opener for the Cleveland Indians. Tom Bennett, Alan Howard, Daniel Nealon, Robert Dybo, Nancy Hungerman, Kevin Delagrange and Barrett Dorko performed on top of both dugouts for 30 minutes before the game for the 40,000 people in attendance. The following week a reporter from the Cleveland Plain Dealer devoted a column to a description of a club meeting.

 

Correction -- The last issue of Juggler's World mistakenly stated that Terry Cavarretas is the only woman currently performing a triple somersault on the trapeze. It is brought to our attention that two women with the Ringling Brothers Red Unit also do the trick -- Francisca Lunas and Maricela Alejandros.

 

Eight-year-old Craig Kornhauser can be seen juggling on MTV. He's featured in the video "Letterbox" performed by the rock group Pilgrim Souls. Craig is son of Ken Kornhauser of the Juggling Santini Brothers.

 

Albert.Lucas performed in at the Marco Polo Hotel in Miami and at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Fla., recently. He is now in Atlantic City at Harrahs. But he's putting most of his energy into joggling. Lucas bettered his 10-kilometer time to 36:10 at the Fort Lauderdale Heart Run, and ran 3 hr. 32 minutes in a Miami marathon. In mid-May, he qualified for the Florida Sunshine Games state championship amateur track meet by winning his age division in five races at a regional TAC­sanctioned meet at the University at Tampa. Joggling, Lucas beat three others in his age group in the 100 meters, 1 mile, 5 kilometer, 110 meter hurdles and 400 me­ters (56 seconds!)
