INTERVIEW JW:
Tell us about your physical regimen, the things you do
to stay in shape. AG:
I do a lot of pushups. I'm up to 92 so far and am trying to get to
100 to beat Nick. That's his record. I also do situps and run, and
am starting to row and swim. I do some handstand pushups, but
they're hard. I can do 11 of them against a wall, but Nick
did 23 in a free handstand. JW:
Is every days practice just an hour like it was today? AG:
We also practice a half-hour before each show, so that's another
hour each day for a total of two hours.
JW:
Many people may think of you as just a juggler, but you've really
got a lot of different AG:
Well, I was taking boxing and doing some sparring to stay in shape a
while ago. I got nailed once or twice, but never got a bloody nose.
My trainer would like to see me go on because he says I have a good
ability, but I'm not going to be a boxer in the long run.
Then
I had a dune buggy a long time ago, but didn't do too much with it
really. I used to ride dirt bikes, and I still ski, but now it's
race car driving. Since I got my '87 Mustang GT 5.0 with a 302 V-8
I've been getting into the SCCA races. I'm going to try also to get
into the races for the Mustang Club, which are a little more serious
than the SCCA. My mom used to do the drags, and she likes riding
with me when I race.
I'm
getting better at it. I've done a couple of engine things, and am
going to work on the suspension next. I have a friend who's Nevada
state champion race car driver and he has a shop where he works on
cars. I go over there and learn about it.
JW:
You've only had a license a couple of years, but haven't you had
several cars in that time? AG:
I've had a license three years, and actually, the Mustang is the
sixth car I've owned. The first was a Jetta, then a Nova, an RX-7,
another Mustang, a truck and then this one. I liked my truck a lot,
but I've got a different feeling about this car, it's the one!
JW:
Any other outside activities? AG:
I'm SCUBA certified, and that's a fun hobby. Then I started cliff
diving recently. One night I went to the lake and spent the night at
the cliffs with some friends and the next day we decided to jump off.
There were 20 foot cliffs, then the tallest was about 50 feet. Every
time you jump off that big cliff it's scary. It doesn't get any easier
with practice. I always debate it as I stand there. But it gives you a
rush, your stomach goes in your throat.
JW:
We saw you in Penthouse a while ago, tell us about
that. AG:
That was weird. I had no idea that was in there, and it was
totally unauthorized. It was an article about Michael Moschen winning
his grant, then they had this computerized picture of me juggling with
no identification at all. I still don't know how it got in there, but
it wasn't worth it to try to sue or anything. |
