Street acts are invited to compete in the Oranjeboom Straatfestival in
Rotterdam, Netherlands, August 20-22. Acts will be judged on
originality, technical skill, improvisation,
humor and professionalism, and first prize is 2,000 Dutch francs. All
acts selected will have their travel and accommodations covered, and
passing the hat is allowed. Entry deadline is May 1. Call the
Juggler's World office for a copy of the entry form, or call Lee Hayes

Denmark's Circus Changhigh recommends a new "Notes" photo
feature called "I juggled on..."
They send along this photo of one
of the circus men juggling on a camel. How about you? Where have you
juggled? Send along your photos and share the experience with
all our readers.

Robert Nelson, The Butterfly Man will hereby be known as Robert
Armstrong Nelson, a name he'll use on the comedy club circuit. He is
signing a contract with an agency to represent him in comedy clubs and
in film and television.

Several jugglers appeared in the past summer and winter tours of The
Circus Kingdom. The 90-day summer tour of the Christian-oriented
college-student circus included juggling by Andy Barden, Jim Cannon,
Nels Cremean, Lynn Dreher and Carl Zumstein. During a winter holiday
tour of Florida, Jim Cannon, Steve Hammes, Bryant McCown Jr. and
Zumstein did juggling numbers. Hammes and McCown then joined Roberts
Brothers Circus, for whom they're doing juggling, aerial, trampoline
and wire-walking acts this season. The Circus Kingdom is looking for
jugglers for its upcoming summer season. See the classified ads in
this issue for more information.

On New Year's Eve as part of Boston and Portsmouth First Night
celebrations, Maine juggler Sheila Curtis performed as Madam Recycle.
Her large, colorful costume is constructed from trash and recycled
goods, and she entertains with ideas about planetary health through
juggling, unicycling, magic and audience participation. Curtis was
otherwise busy this winter performing as Trickster Fox at ski resorts
throughout New England.

Jonathan Seglins, Fred Anderson and Jeff Bradley recently performed
together at the Saikung and Whitehead Vietnamese refugee detention
camps near Hong Kong.

Scott Anthony, who does juggling, comedy and motivational speaking out
of Colorado Springs, recently played the part of a juggler in
"Life's A Stage," a pilot show for a proposed nationally
syndicated television series. He was
also the only joggler among 30,000 runners in this year's Crescent
City Classic 10K race in New Orleans.
* European propmaker AJA has produced a new set of 10 full color juggling post cards. Those featured include members of Las Piranhas, Neil Stammer, The Blim Brothers and other individuals. For more information on the cards, or an AJA prop catalog, contact AJA at Leimen, Germany.

Todd Blair and Jimmy Robertson, who juggled together last summer at
Kings Dominion in Virginia as "Flight Patterns," have a
non-speaking role in the new movie, "Mommy Market." They are
members of star Sissy Spacek's "Troupe" of performers.
Spacek also learned to juggle for the movie, a family picture that
will be released next summer.

Myron Wilcox says, "Try this trick!" He balances the devil
stick vertically on one of the hand sticks, then flips it over
180-degrees to catch it in a balance on the hand stick on its other
end! He was inspired in watching W.C. Fields do the same move with a
stick balanced on his foot.

Jack Swersie performed with Perry Como in the Perry Como Holiday Show
in Lowell, Mass. Cindy Marvell is collaborating with Wendy Osserman in
a show entitled "Bouncing Back" to be presented at the Dance
Theater Workshop in New York City May 20-23.

Michael Moschen was the subject of a long feature article in the Oct.
4, 1992, New York Times. The article reviewed his performance history
and talked about an upcoming performance at SUNY-Purchase.
