* Dana Tison has been juggling with Campus Crusade for Christ for the past

three years, and now does a 15-minute opening act for illusionist Andre Kole. Tison does three torches, five and seven balls, comedy on a six-foot unicycle, and torch juggling on the unicycle. He concludes with five, seven and eight rings, and occasionally does a comedy ax routine and up to five clubs. He and his wife, who tours with him, are also involved in one of Kole's illusions. They are placed in separate boxes on a table, which Kole pushes together and into which he then plunges torches. When the boxes are pulled apart, the audience finds that the couple has changed clothes.

* The New Guinness Book of Records 1995, printed in London , includes 16 entries in the juggling category. A first-time entrant is French ball spinner Francois Chotard, who is credited for spinning nine balls on one hand. A color photo of Chotard performing that feat is also printed on the page. Chotard and American juggler Tim Nolan appeared at a Guinness event in London in October to unveil the new edition. Nolan is listed in the book as the champion ball bounce juggler, having done 10 in 1988.

* Donald Grant, author of three diabolo instruction books, is spending the current year working on a new routine at I'Ecole Nationale de Cirque in Montreal . He writes, "If anyone feels like corresponding or simply wants to visit and find out what is absolutely the freshest new stuff in the world of diabolo, please feel free to do so." He promises information on "two diabolo Mills Mess, double suicides, hyperloops and fingercurls." Grant is also working on a fourth book, entitled "Totally Diabolical."

* An article in "The Minuteman Chronicle" goes into long detail about an alcohol education routine presented by Brian Smith and Bill Ross, performing as "Last Call" throughout New England and New York. Both are recovering alcoholics, and use juggling throughout their variety arts presentation. During the show they fess up to learning to juggle at the University of Massachusetts while drinking! Their stories went downhill from there for several years, including scrapes with the law, before they joined Alcoholics Anonymous and put together their act. The act illustrates their sad stories using visual puns with a rola-bola, unicycles and various juggling implements.

* The Raspyni Brothers, Dan Holzman and Barry Friedman, did a three-person club passing routine with Vicki Lawrence in the CBS "Circus of the Stars" show.

They also appeared in an "Evening at the Improv" segment passing knives around John Wayne Bobbitt and doing a leapfrog with three sickles.

* Michael Davis has been appearing in a nationwide tv commercial for Nokia cellular phones, successfully juggling a pineapple, a bowling ball and a cake.

* Kevin O'Keefe, artistic director of Circus Minimus, has spent the past two summers teaching juggling, tumbling, clowning, tightrope, acrobatics and bicycle tricks in twoweek circus arts workshops to young people around New England . Each workshop culminated in an hour-long show in which students demonstrated their new juggling skills, from basic scarf juggling to serious devil stick routines. The group expects to do 10 circus residencies around the world in 1995.

* The $8,000 grand prize in the Tempozan (Japan) World Performance Festival went to Lori Mikumo, who performed a juggling cook routine.

* The IJA thanks Honorary Life Member Roger Dollarhide for donating half of his extensive photo collection to the IJA. Part of the collection was also sold to Chicago

juggler Paul Bachman.
