The Jason Garfield
Practice til you Puke Ultimate Workshop
Special Workshop for Youth & Teens through age 19.
You must pre-register for this workshop. Space is limited.
Sponsored in part by Bud Markowitz and Bud's Kids.
4 days: Tuesday thru Friday
12:30-2pm Fee $50
Circus Circus Mandalay Ballroom B
The Jason Garfield Workshop will cover a variety of skills ranging from numbers, balancing while juggling, transitions, pirouettes, how to practice, preparing for performing, preparing for competition, and stage presentation. Body positioning and usage will also be covered.
The workshop will be split into groups that will be instructed individually on their desired skill. The first workshop will begin with a brief overview of what it takes to be a proficient juggler, then followed by the separation of the class into groups, and individual group instruction.
Each class will end with a review of everything taught and discussed, followed by a brief Q&A session, ending with a discussion of what to practice in preparation of the next days workshop The following workshop days will begin with a recap of the day before, and then lead right back into group training.
This workshop will be very flexible in terms of what is taught. If someone wants to learn something very specific that is not being covered, they are welcome to attend and ask questions regarding the trick they want to learn during the group training session.
Jason recommends you email him (jason@jasongarfield.com) and ask if the trick you want to work on falls within his training expertise). He will then give exercises to work on for the requested trick. Students can continue to use the time on that trick, on other tricks being covered, or any combination thereof.
Participants can bounce around from group to group if they dont mind being placed
at different practice levels from the participants that have advanced before the new
participants have begun. In all groups, the same practice techniques and principle will be
taught which can be applied to any new trick they may want to work on at a later time.
JG Workshop Fine Print:
The parameters of this workshop are limited to technical juggling with balls or beanbags,
clubs and rings. Areas not covered include but are not limited to contact juggling (one
ball manipulation) devil, rhythm, flower, or any other kind of sticks, diabolos, cigar

bola, free standing ladders, octopus-mobile riding, and bowling.

The Skyy Flair Challenge will be the first ever competition to combine the best flair bartenders and jugglers into one exciting event. Flairco and the IJA are proud to launch the initial Skyy Flair Challenge at the 2003 IJA Festival in Reno. The concept behind this event is to introduce bartenders and jugglers to each other's world using the plastic Flairco bottle as the medium. Competitors in this challenge will demonstrate their best bottle flipping tricks, patterns and styles using the 750ml Flairco bottles as their main prop. There will be no glass allowed and competitors are not required to make drinks, unlike typical bartending competitions.

The Jason Garfield Show
Tuesday 9pm
Golden Phoenix Hotel Casino Theater
This show is scheduled at 9pm because it may contain limited coarse language.
If you think all jugglers are the same, Jason Garfield will put that myth to rest. Eighteen years of completely unnecessary intense training have earned him 3 Lucas Cups and 11 gold medals.
Jason Garfield is the only competitive juggler to make a previous
Lucas Cup recipient surrender his trophy. In
2000, Jason set the world record for 11 balls and currently holds the world record for
possessing more Lucas Cups than any other human being.
Jason has produced the best instructional and entertaining juggling videos on the
planet. His show is specific to each venue and is designed to be appreciated by jugglers
and non-jugglers and some people from
Non-jugglers will be thoroughly educated and informed in the discipline of juggling as
it pertains to technique and its relation to the performances most commonly exhibited as
well as his high level of skill as it relates to his performance.
For this particular performance, Jason guarantees to perform tricks never performed by
anyone else and some tricks never performed by anyone, including himself. And of course, as always, the obligatory attempts at
comedy and original quasi-humorous audience participation bits based on minimal juggling
skill that embarrass innocent audience members which are only used to drag the show out to
the required duration.
If you are a juggler and you don't want to see a juggling performance that will make
you feel ashamed to be a juggler, see this show.

Cascade of Stars Show

Mark McGuire, Show Director
Golden Phoenix Hotel Casino Theater
As Entertainment Director for the world famous Circus Circus, Mark McGuire
travels extensively searching for the world's best acts. Sometimes he wishes he was still

all...or both. Mostly he just wishes that he had more time to sail his boat. This will be
his 5th time directing the Cascade of Stars for the IJA and he is exhausted just thinking
about it. . . but isnt that what it takes to make a great show?
This years Cascade of Stars will feature the Passing Zone among other fabulous acts
Dont miss it!
