 * Reg Bolton was named Honorary President of the British National Association of Youth Circus at its formation in April. Bolton, who has lived in Australia for the past 10 years, was honored because of his pioneering work in the field of youth circus, his influential books and his continued interest in development of youth circus around the world. He established Britain's first community circus and launched its first circus school in 1977. There are now more than 100 such groups in Britain.

* A summer issue of "People" magazine included an article on a Hollywood agent who specialized in offbeat acts. A photo accompanying the article showed Dan Bennett balancing a bowling ball on his head.

* Rev. Mike Hout needs your used equipment to help him teach inner city kids in Dayton, Ohio, to juggle. Hout is working to set up juggling groups at eight city recreation centers, and has made more than 500 sand filled tennis balls on his own in that effort. If you can donate anything, send it

to Hout at Kettering OH.

* Results of the fourth annual Davidson College freshman juggling poll, conducted by Juggler's World editor Bill Giduz, were consistent with those of previous years. Giduz did a face-to-face survey of all 453 freshmen as they checked in for the academic year, and found that 33% of 225 men and 8.3% of 228 women could do at least a few cascade throws. That's a total of 20.7% jugglers in the entire Davidson Class of 1998. In the three previous years, the men's total was 27%, 32% and 29%, while the women's total was 9%, 9% and 7.7%. Overall totals were 18% for the Class of 1995, 21% for the Class of 1996 and 20% for the Class of 1997. Giduz invites others to submit data from other surveys as well.

* The Airborne Comedians, Dan Foley and Joel Harris, made themselves known to IJA festival goers with performances on the Renegade lake cruise and in the Best of Renegade show, but the pair has been performing together at colleges and universities for a decade. Foley also works solo on the street during the summers at Faneuil Hall in Boston. Among their crowd-pleasing routines are passing three clubs, a football and a guitar, passing three lawn chairs between them, and a duet in which the two stand side-by-side, each providing one hand to playa guitar, and the other hand to juggle and eat apples while they sing a comic jugglers ballad.

* Juggler Stuart Celarier of Portland, Ore., wed Anya Averill (a non-juggler, but a great catch) on August 28. The couple began their new life together by passing through a gauntlet of juggling clubs unscathed.

* Young Laurent Perrelet of Switzerland performed his diabolo routine this year at the Carnival of Venice and at the Tigerpalast club in Frankfurt. While in Frankfurt, his audience one evening included Francis Brunn. And wouldn't you know it, that was the evening one of hand sticks broke in performance! He will perform 65 shows during a five week appearance December 2 to January 8 with Circus Pajazzo in Geneva.
