Greetings from Hawaii! I arrived today at the 12th Hawaiian Juggling Festival. After traveling by taxi to the site, Spencer Beach Park on the Kona Coast of the Big Island, I was met by the friendly faces of familiar jugglers, stuff flying in the air and about 150 tents scattered about.

I found my camp site in "The Olympic Village," a collection of tents established by the Atlantans in attendance Drew Ford, Dave Altman and Bruce Plott (actually, he's from Jacksonville...)

I was too excited to pitch my tent because everyone was talking about humpback whales so off we went in kayaks. And yes, we were within yards of the monstrous water mammals! More later, aloha!

Hello Hollie!

At this very moment I can hardly think of a more wonderful place to be and to be juggling!

The warmth of the sun is not shadowed by the warmth of the people here. The camaraderie I feel is best described by the Hawaiian word ohana. That translates

to "family" and has come to mean true thoughtfulness and sharing to all those

one meets.

I just met Sue from Switzerland and she immediately asked me to juggle. I helped her prepare for Renegade. I also met the immensely friendly Mac, Roy and Kiko, the Hawaiian residents who take jugglers out into the ocean in outrigger canoes every day.

More than 15 countries are represented here! Children and adults play harmoniously. People respect the world by recycling and decreasing waste. Anyone who dared toss a cigarette butt on the ground would feel shame. Wouldn't the world be a better place if everyone embodied the spirit of ohana and juggling?  Aloha!

Date: Sometime in February in the Year 1996... Honestly, I'm having so much fun that all I know is whether it's day or night!

Hey ya'll!! I heard it snowed on uou today. Well, I won't mention that I sat in the sun and watched an intensely competitive game of beach volleyclub between Waldo and Haggis on one side and Tony and another German on the other. Wow! These guys have perfected the game!

Well, I guess I also shouldn't mention the great food either. We had local fresh - fish, fruits, and fascinating snacks like manapua (steamed buns), ahi poki

(raw ahi prepared in seaweed), titikoi juice (passion fruit), taro chips and sweet guava wine (thanks to Melonhead and Sue). The best meal was prepared by Leslie Weiss, a chef from New York who took it on herself to prepare an ono (delicious) meal for our little village.

One night we dined at a terrific off-thebeaten-trail Thai restaurant in Kona. May we recommend Sue's Thai Restaurant in Kona? I so thoroughly enjoyed the curry / coconut eggplant, while Drew had a yummy chicken with macadamia nuts, and Leslie's fish was impeccably prepared in a sweet/sour sauce with julienne fresh vegetables.

One day we drove to the ranch town of Waimea in search of Hawaiian food. On the way out of town, we took a quick right turn to a yard sale. A big box of womens' slips caught our attention. "How much for this lovely cotton one?" I asked "25 cents" was the answer. I summoned Leslie and Drew and they decided to get one each. Then, in a crazy silly moment, we all got one for each of the fir/e people in our group so we could "dress" for dinner.

What a sight three men and two women were at the juggling campsite! Drew enhanced his look with "silicone implants," and some jugglers walking by asked if we were having a cross-dressing workshop! I summed it up by explaining that we were just a "Slip of Fools." Check out the photos and start looking for a replacement for my position. I'm staying!
