Hi, Dad!

Today was amazing!

Many of the jugglers hiked through the kiawe forest.  Kiawe is mesquite.  The walk passed through a coconut tree glen, tangled up in the kiawe branches.  It created an image of Hawaii of old.  Then we came upon a view of perfect aquamarine water with bright, white, sea-foam waves crashing onto the shores of black jagged lava rocks.

At the very moment my mind was racing with thoughts of nature's perfection, the scenery got even better.  I walked out on a white, soft, sandy, private beach area the size of about half a football field, where about six men and three women enjoyed themselves mostly unclothed!

The water was a glorious lagoon, shallow and clear with a sandy bottom.  The sun was beating down through blue sky and clouds, and the temperature was a perfect 71-degrees.

Juggling?!  Maybe after I relax!  More later, and pictures to follow!

Dear Matthew and all!

You should definitely order the Renegade and public show tapes of this event from famous videographer Alan Plotkin. How about that for a blatant piece of promotion!

I haven't actually seen the tape yet, but if the video captures what I saw, then your eyes will have a veritable Hawaiian luau feast and your face will be one big smile!

The shows were great, of course, because they were planned by the Renegades! A highlight you'll hear people talking about for years was Doug the Red Head Dred Guy from San Fran. He sat in a chair on stage while Iman, dressed in puffy red pants, a white puffy shirt and a big ol' white wig, covered him from the neck down with a barber's spread. He lip synched "The Barber of Sellille" in dramatic, exaggerated fashion, as Iman began to cut his amazing dreds!

After the first cut and the collective gasp of the audience, she tossed the dred into the audience. Of course, she didn't cut them all at once it became a rolling piece of performance between acts.

At one point his partner, Heart, adhered a couple of the red dreds to his own

cleanly shaven head with duct tape! The finale came when Doug soaked three of the 15-inch dreds in fuel, it them and juggled them! Ah yes, the wafting scent of burning dreds and...

Like I said, get the video!
