Ecole de Cirque de Quebec (Quebec Circus School)

"Who Were Those Guys?" was the front-page headline of the Sep/Oct 1998 issue of JUGGLE magazine. A virtually unknown team of jugglers seemingly came out of nowhere to take the juggling world by surprise in winning the 1998 IJA Teams Championships. "Those Guys" were Les Tourisks and they were from L'Ecole de Cirque de Quebec. Now, ten years after Les Tourisks captured the hearts of the juggling community with their unique blend of juggling and acrobatics, L'Ecole de Cirque de Quebec is proud to once again send its latest generation of promising young talent to the IJA stage.

L'Ecole de Cirque de Quebec is a relatively young school in Quebec City (not to be confused with the better known L'Ecole National de Cirque in Montreal). Students are trained in theater, physical conditioning, dance and flexibility in addition to their chosen circus disciplines. Individuality and creativity are emphasized, and students are encouraged to create their own acts with strong guidance from the staff. Although young, L'Ecole de Cirque de Quebec is growing quickly and is quietly gaining a reputation for producing unique high-quality circus acts. Many former students have achieved great success in Cirque du Soleil and in other circuses and performances around the world.

The school has a very strong juggling program, and this school year probably has the largest crop of jugglers in school history. L'Ecole de Cirque de Quebec is proud to introduce this latest group of young and talented jugglers, including Cate Emily, along with acrobats and other circus artists, to the IJA during the first half of this year's Cascade of Stars.

Niels Duinker

Niels Duinker is one of the hottest new professional jugglers. His show is a combination of top notch juggling, performance and youthful enthusiasm.

Niels has performed all over the world, entertaining audiences in Japan, Las Vegas and Europe with his unique blend of artistry and energy. The Dutch Telegraph Newspaper has called him a "juggling wonder."

Niels Duinker performed his first show at the age of 13 and soon joined the Rotterdam Youth Circus to improve his skills. There he performed with a duo show called "Big Troubles." In 2003 on his 18th birthday, Niels performed Ð including juggling 7 clubs Ð at the European Juggling Convention in Denmark.

In 2005 Niels won two gold medals in the Dutch Juggling Championships. During the spring of 2006, Niels performed in the program of the greatest Dutch comedy performer Freek de Jonge. Later that year he won a gold medal in the IJA's Extreme Juggling competition. In the fall of 2007 Niels performed his solo juggling show for three months in the largest theme park in Japan.

Niels will amaze us in the Cascade of Stars and will also teach a free workshop.

Casey Boehmer

Casey Boehmer was born without a left forearm. Through hard work and dedication he has become the only one-handed technical juggler in the world. He excels at balls, clubs and rings. By combining numbers juggling (up to five clubs) and multiplexing, he has created a one-of-a-kind performance.

Casey has performed professionally in hundreds of venues across the USA, including Branson and the Wisconsin Dells. He has wowed audiences in Singapore and is included in the historical juggling book Virtuosos of Juggling by Karl-Heinz Ziethen and Alessandro Serena.

Casey is a three-time IJA award winner and two-time winner of a "Phil" at the annual Groundhog Day festival in Atlanta, Georgia. The Boehmer Family Jugglers won the IJA People's Choice Award in 2001.

An inspiration to watch, Casey is a world-class juggler who will captivate your attention in the Cascade of Stars on Friday night.
