IJA Board Meeting - October 15, 2002The Board of Directors of the International Jugglers' Association met on October 15, 2002, 9:00pm ET via conference call. Present at the meeting were - Chairman: Paul Richmond; Directors: Jaye Butler, David Davis, Andy Ford, Art Jennings, Bill Ritchie, Ben Schoenberg, Scott Slesnick; Officers: Norman Schneiderman, General Manager; Becky Schneiderman, Recorder. Meeting called to order 9:05pm ET MOTION Richmond moves to accept agenda with addition and subtraction as discussed. Ritchie seconds VOTEButler for Davis against Ford abstain Jennings for Richmond for Ritchie for Schoenberg for Slesnick for Motion carries MOTION Richmond moves to accept minutes of June 25. Ritchie seconds VOTE Butler abstain Davis abstain Ford for Jennings for Richmond for Ritchie for Schoenberg for Slesnick abstain Motion carries MOTION Richmond moves to accept minutes of October 8. Slesnick seconds MOTION Richmond moves to table the motion to accept the minutes to the next meeting. Schoenberg seconds VOTE No objections Motion carries MOTION Richmond moves that the board of the IJA adopt the following policy: Items that may be identified as confidential by a majority vote of the board of directors include: Preparing for, conducting, or reviewing negotiations or bargaining sessions with employees concerning their compensation or other terms and conditions of their employment. Preparing for, conducting, or reviewing negotiations or bargaining sessions with groups or individuals providing products or services under contract rates. The appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a employee or official, or the investigation of charges or complaints against a employee, staff member, committee member, board member or general member. Any conference with an attorney concerning disputes that are the subject of pending or imminent court action, or any records pertaining to pending or potential litigation. Butler seconds VOTE Butler for Davis for Ford for Jennings for Ritchie for Schoenberg for Slesnick for Richmond for Motion carries MOTION Richmond moves that we form a special committee on the policy manual to review and present recommendations to the board. Slesnick seconds MOTION Richmond moves to table this discussion. Ritchie seconds MOTION Richmond moves that we take the costs of the fund raising drive from the proceeds of the fund raising drive for the old life member fund. Ritchie seconds Richmond amends Retroactive to last year that we take the costs of the fund raising drive from the proceeds of the fund raising drive for the old life member fund. Ritchie seconds Richmond calls the vote VOTE Butler for Davis against Ford against Jennings abstain Ritchie for Schoenberg for Slesnick for Richmond for Motion carries MOTION Slesnick moves that retroactive to the last year, when we sell a new life membership at $1500 (or whatever the dues may be in the future) that we take the cost of the first year's dues up front. It should be prorated as follows, membership dues divided by six, times the number magazines that member will receive for the year equivalent to their geographical dues. Richmond seconds Richmond calls the vote VOTE Butler for Davis against Ford abstain Jennings abstain Ritchie for Schoenberg for Slesnick against Richmond for Motion carries MOTION Paul moves to adjourn.
