“Organic Juggling” Ball Juggling Workshop by Stefan Sing

Stefan Sing has been juggling since 1987 and turned pro in 2001. All the while, he has been perfecting a unique and dazzling style of ball juggling all his own, which has earned him the attention and respect of top ball jugglers all over the world. Since 2003, he has been a resident teacher at Belgium’s Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque, and has taught at several other European circus schools. 

Stefan has gotten tremendous response to his performances all over Europe and at the European Juggling Convention for several years, and has taught workshops for serious ball jugglers at EJC since 2006. In Rochester, Stefan brings his original and inventive style and techniques to North America for the first time, giving IJA festival attendees a unique chance to push their own skills into new areas.

Stefan’s special 8-hour, four-day workshop at the IJA festival is titled “Organic Juggling.” Topics to be explored include:

• Fluidity and softness in juggling
• Using the whole body in juggling
• Searching for an attitude in which dropping is not possible anymore
• Finding creativity (new moves and patterns) through playing
• Basic knowledge about choreographic elements: time, space, emotion
• Consciousness about the different relationships with your props

Space is limited and pre-registration is required. The fee for this special workshop is $150 per person, and it will be held Tuesday through Friday afternoons, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Comedy Juggling Workshop by Dan Holzman

Learn the ins and outs and ups and downs of comedy juggling in a fun and fast-paced 3-day private workshop. 

Dan Holzman will draw upon his over thirty years of experience as both a solo and team performer to teach you how to write comedy, create original routines, promote your act, and develop a strong comedy character. An IJA Life Member since the late 80's, Dan Holzman has won two IJA Teams Championships with the Raspyni Brothers and is the IJA’s only recipient of both the Bobby May Award and the Award of Excellence.

The fee for this special workshop is $100 per person, and it is scheduled Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Don't miss out on this opportunity to take your career and comedy skills to the next level!

Professional Publicity Portrait Photo Sitting

Attention, professional performers or any juggler looking to sell yourself and your act to paying clients! How would you like to get a fresh set of professionally-shot publicity photos of yourself, in costume and with your props?

IJA is providing a special service to members attending the festival in Rochester by sponsoring a professional portrait photographer who will take high-quality publicity photographs of you (headshots or full body, posed or action) for use in promoting yourself. Photos like these are perfect for use on your promotional Web site, in corporate publicity kits, or for advance PR for your performances.

Our hired photographer will set up shop at the festival inside the Mayo Civic Center on Wednesday, July 20, ready to shoot your photos in a studio setup with professional lighting, backdrops and a high-end digital SLR camera. Each 20-minute session will give you and the photographer time to shoot dozens of photographs of you, in costume and with your props if you like, either posed or in the middle of your best trick.

At the end of the session, you’ll get an SD flash memory card containing all of the photos taken during your session, for you to use as you wish. The original digital files of all the photos taken during your session are yours to keep and use forever.

A studio session like this with a professional portrait photographer can easily cost hundreds of dollars, but if you purchase this option with your IJA festival package by June 30, this professional publicity photo sitting is just $50 -- a real bargain!
